Dear Interested Prospective Patient:

“Old fashioned” medical care is no longer a thing of the past in the South Bay.  Skypark Preferred Family Care has resurrected the lost values of old fashioned care and combining these qualities with modern medicine.  Skypark Preferred Family Care, launched in 2006, was the first medical practices of this kind in our area.  Through this new “concierge-style” practice, my staff and I provide highly personalized care and unparalleled service to a very limited number of patients.  There are compelling reasons for joining this kind of “direct” practice that I want to share with you.

Over the past 30 years in the Torrance area, I have watched my practice evolve with the changes in the modern world.  It has been blessed with wonderful success; however, its old pre 2006 design no longer fits today’s healthcare reality.  Significant changes have occurred in the medical marketplace.  Limited managed care and Medicare reimbursements require physicians to see more and more patients in less and less time.  These changes make it increasingly difficult to practice, as I believe one should, away from the noise and confusion, in a calm and personalized style.

Prior to my new practice I typically saw 25-30 patients in my office and returned dozens of phone calls.  Paperwork filled my evenings and weekends.  Time for study and reading was limited.  The opportunity to carefully coordinate specialty care in the way it should be done was limited.  However, as most of my patients know, I would try not to rush their visits.  I attempted to allow time to understand all of their health care needs.  Still, many patients waited to see me long past their appointment times.  Because I often ran so far behind, some may have been reluctant to express all their medical concerns at the time of a visit.  Some of my patients may have felt frustrated -- a frustration I have definitely shared.

Over time I came to believe radical change was necessary, as have many other primary care physicians across the country.   I want to be confident, and have my patients sense, that their care is delivered in a personalized “Marcus Welby” style.  Through Skypark Preferred Family Care we are making this style of care a reality.

I accept only a limited number of patients in my practice, and in order to keep the enrollment level low all patients are assessed an annual fee to participate.  Please read both sides of the attached “Contract and Details” page.  It describes new patient services, delineates the annual fee, and should answer many questions.

If you would like to see our office and meet with me personally, I would be happy to have you schedule an introductory visit at no charge.  At that time you can also meet members of my staff who will further discuss the practice with you.  Please call our Skypark medical office number at 310-378-6208 to arrange this visit.

The practice size is limited to 600 patients, a small fraction of the 2,000 to 4,000 patients served by many primary care doctors.  There are only limited spaces remaining for new patients and at times there is a waiting list.  But for those who share a desire for the highest standard of personalized, compassionate health care, Skypark Preferred Family Care may be your best option.

Wishing you the best of health,

Thomas W. LaGrelius, MD, FAAFP
